Hello All,
I've been a MCDBA\2000 for about seven years. And I've been using SQL Server 2K5 since release, but I never felt the need to certify. I recently started exploring and learning SQL Server 2K8 and would like to re-certify on 2K8. But I'm uncertain about the exam-path to take.
!
Let me clarify my certification goals at this point:
MCITP: Database Administrator 2008
MCITP: Database Developer 2008
MCITP: Business Intelligence Development and Maintenance 2008
!
Now as I understand it {Please correct me if I'm wrong} there is no upgrade path from a MCDBA\2000 to MCITP SQL server 2008.
!
So will it be necessary for me to certify fully at the MCTS level then certify fully at the MCITP level, for a total of six exams?
MCTS: SQL Server 2008
Exam 70-432
Exam 70-433
Exam 70-448
MCITP: SQL Server 2008
Exam 70-450
Exam 70-451
Exam 70-452
Thanks sincerely, for you help.

Do you do dev, admin and BI?

Correct. There's an upgrade from MCDBA to the SQL 2005 ITP: Database Admin, and there are upgrades from the SQL 2005 MCITP certs to SQL 2005 MCITP certs, but there's nothing from 2000 to 2008

If you want all three of the TS and all three of the ITP certs, then yes.

Some development, mostly administration and I've only worked with the reporting & analysis services aspect of BI. MDX has been the thorn in my side, because of the syntax differences between it and T-SQL.
My overall goal is to develop all three areas -- rounding off my skillset to include SQL Developer\Admin.\BI. Dev. & Maint.
Thanks for the reply.
