Does SQL Server configuration impact the performance of application server?

    We have a SQL Server which memory is 2GB, there are many application servers that will connect to this SQL Server instance.

    One of the application server has only 1GB memory, and recently it happend a few times that memory was not enough, and only reboot the application server could solve the problem.

    Now our customer is asking me to reconfigure the SQL Server, or do some tuning to decrease the memory usage?

    Do you think that this application server memory insufficient issue is caused by SQL Server? Any advice is highly appreciated!!

    I don't know why the configuration of the SQL Server would affect the memory usage of another server. It sounds to me like some tuning and re-configuration of the application on the application server is what is needed.
