Hi,
MSSQL 2005/SP2
Does anyone have any thoughts or good links about the new server role called public and what it can do? There's not alot out there?
Many thanks. Jeff

It looks like this is like the public database role. Every user that is granted rights to the server is put in the public server role. On my servers the public server role is only granted connect rights on the various connection methods (TCP, Named Pipes, Local). I removed Connect to Local Machine rights for public on my local pc and tried to connect using a sql login that was only in public and could not connect.
