SQL Cluster Port Number

    I'm trying to change the port number for a SQL Cluster Install, however each time I do it the SQL Server resource in Cluster Administrator doesn't come online. The application logs has a series of repeated errors.

    I have disabled named pipes as well prior to changing the port number. On changing the port number back to the default the SQL Server resource finally comes online.

    These are default instances of the cluster.

    Is there a specific set of steps that need to be followed to do this?

    I enabled Named pipes and changed the port and it now works.

    Is it a requirement for SQL Server 2005 cluster that named pipes needs to be enabled?
