BACKING UP SELECTED FILES

    Hi, I am new to this (and probably dumb too).

    I want to make a backup of certain files only.

    But this option is not offered in the Enterprise Mgr, Tools, Backup.

    Options available are Complete Data base or Differential.

    I can see Files and Groups of Files, but these options are not available.

    How does it work?

    If the backup file or filegroup option is grayed out in Enterprise Manager, it means the database is using the Simple recovery model.  File backups can be used only with the Full recovery and Bulk-Logged recovery models.  Read "Using File Backups" in Books OnLine.
