  I have an inheritied issue which I am trying to resolve on an SQL 2000 server.  When the databases are backed up automatically, via a maintenance plan to tape, the database name is not being recorded when reviewing the tapes afterwards.  It only seems to show when the databases are manually backed up, i.e. during a test backup after a tape initialisation.

  Can anyone assist me with this?  Thanks in advance.

  Check the settings on the maintenance plan. I think that there is a place to specify the names that will be used.
