I simply installed Analysis Services within Microsoft's virtual PC which has a Windows 2003 Server image. SQLServer, Sharepoint, everything else runs fine. After installing AS2K, I was able to see all cube metadata, create new cubes, process cubes, etc. But it I click on the "Data" tab within Analysis Manager, or attempt to browse either cubes or dimensions I receive the message in the subject line of this post.
I've also attempted the following: Reprocessed cubes, build new ones from scratch, reinstall analyis services, attempt to reinstall the pivot table service, etc. At my wits end since I am trying to do a quick assessment of AS2K and having a difficult time even getting the process off the ground because I can't see any Foodmart data. I'm pretty desparate, so here's an incentive: the first person to help me solve this, I will provide a $20 gift certificate on Amazon.com, or another book web site of your choice.
It's frustrating because I don't even get an error code...

Well, thanks to an earlier post, I discovered the problem was fixed by installing SP3a!! Sorry, noone won the $20 gift certificate, but the value of this site has been soldified; I am hooked!!
