SQL Restore

  • Hi Guys

    Pls. find the OS & SQL Configuration details

    Windows 2000

    SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition

    Service Pack 2

    Product Version Old : 8.00.679 (SP2)

    New : 8.00.534 (SP2)

    Pls. find the following error msg, while restoring the master database from

    Production to Disaster,

    Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState:42000)

    The backup of the system database on device <path> cannot be restored

    because it was created by a different version of the server (134218407) than

    this server (134218262).

    RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

    Can you guys help me out here.How do I resolve this error.

    Interesting problem..

    8.00.679 SP 2 + Q316333

    8.00.534 Service Pack 2

    Try applying Q316333 and try again.

  • Were any changes made to the Operating System? I've restored successfully after upgrading Service Packs to SQL Server so that shouldn't be your problem. But upgrading your operating system could be.

  • Chris is right. You have to have both SQL Server at same level of SQL Servers and patches for master database restoration.
