Has anyone done a hard core study of SQL Server usage on the different available
storage types?
A) HD - Local Hard Drive
B) SAN - Storage Area Network
C) NAS - Network Attached Storage
I would like to see a study showing a performance comparison. I know that it is
not recommended to use a NAS, but my company does not want to invest in a SAN at
the moment, and I am waffling on the idea of using a NAS. Please no flames /
opinions, looking for repeatable facts. Also if, and what do the different
storage solutions provide in the way of advantages for clustering?

I don't think you will find a good non-biased comparison of them. However, if you're just looking for numbers check out NetApp's SQL Server white papers and case studies (http://www.netapp.com/partners/microsoft/sql_server.html).

Thanks Chris, has some good articles there. Just finished going over most of them. I am finding that this is a VERY biased subject, and it makes it hard to make an unbiased intelligent decision.
