We are using Analysis Manager that comes with SQL Server 2000.

It sometimes happens that the object repository of Analysis Services has issues which cause individual objects to behave badly. Rather than attempt to hack the repository, it's typically better to simply recreate the object (use a different name to avoid re-use of bad metadata).
Another easy troubleshooting technique is to insure you are using Service Pack 2. Earlier releases had a number of odd behaviors.
