Happy Memorial Day 2017

,

It's Memorial Day in the US today. It's a holiday where very few people should be working outside of the service industries. When I worked in restaurants, this was a busy day for us, and signified the start of the summer season. The last few decades, it's been a day of remembrance as well as one of spring chores and relaxiing with the family. With most of the US taking a break, this is also a fairly quite day around the world for most people. Hopefully it is for you, with no broken systems or high priority work coming your way today.

I'll actually be working a bit today. I've got some deadlines to meet, and with my wife and daughter leaving town for a trip, this is a good time for me to catch up on a few things. I'll still be needing to cut some grass and do a few things, but I'll be sitting by a computer for most of the day.

Holidays are a good time to remember there's life outside of work and you have a life away from SQL Server and data. That's not always the case, but I hope most of the days away from work are truly away from work, letting go of the stress and responsibility for a few hours.

Happy Memorial Day.
