500 posts

,

Well, that’s something to be proud of. This is my 500th post on this blog. Not including a handful of articles and posts on other people’s blogs. I have to admit, when I started (almost exactly 5 years ago) I don’t think I expected to have reached this point. In case you don’t feel like doing the math, that’s two posts a week (with a few months of one post a week right at the beginning, and occasionally a week off at the end of the year) for five years! The vast majority of which have been technical, some funny, some discussions of soft topics (expertise, how to learn, when to get help that kind of thing).

I’ve gotten a few awards and recognitions over the years, and I appreciate every single one of them. I particularly appreciate the comments about helping people understand subjects, solve problems, etc. I even got a comment once that I helped someone get a job. But I have to say, what impresses and honors me the most is that somewhere along the way (a couple of months ago) I passed the 1 million views mark. That tells me that what I’m doing is consistently of use to someone. And so, I guess I’ll keep going. I have to tell you though, the down side to having 500 posts is that I honestly don’t remember a fair number of them. I can’t imagine what it will be like at number 1000.

FYI I debated waiting until post 512 but I was told that was too geeky. Can you really be too geeky?
