Moving to a New Blog Platform

First, I want to say that having my blog on SQL Server Central has been a great experience. When I first started blogging a few years ago, the SSC platform helped drive a lot of people to my blog. I think it is a great platform for new bloggers. If you write good material, being on the SSC platform will definitely help you get discovered by your peers. To use terminology of the younger generations, I've still gotta lotta love for SSC. If you're here from Radar Online or TMZ hoping to capture a Mel Gibson or Christian Bale type rant, you're out of luck.

This is not going to be one of those posts where I run down SSC and claim to be leaving because I'm fed up. The fact is simply that I want to have more control over the look and feel and the functionality of my blog. It's really that simple ... I'm a control freak. Errr, I mean I want more control. 🙂 I'm also planning to try to have my blog syndicated to SSC from the new site.

Preview the New Site & Update Your Links

The new site has just about all of the design work done, and I'm mainly waiting for an export of my current blog's data (posts and comments). I have manually copied over some of the posts, mostly so I could verify the various elements of the new blog. Hopefully, I will be able to get all of the data into the new blog via import.

If you have the site linked or saved somewhere, you can update the link now as it currently redirects to my current blog. Once the new blog goes live, the base URL will redirect to the new blog home page. The blog home page is in a subdirectory and can be reached by using the URL of the subdirectory.

Hope to see you there!!
