SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM Cumulative Update 6 Released

,

Microsoft actually released SQL Server 2008 R2 Cumulative Update 6 on February 21, 2011, so I am a little late to blog about it, but I wanted to have a record (since I sometimes use my own blog posts to find things later). This is Build 10.0.1765.0, and I count 43 fixes in this Cumulative Update. Remember this is only for SQL Server 2008 R2, not for SQL Server 2008 SP2, so don’t be confused about this!

Here are a couple of the more interesting fixes that are included in this CU.

Non-yielding Scheduler error and SQL Server 2008 stops responding intermittently in Windows Server 2008

Slow performance when you recover a database if there are many VLFs inside the transaction log in SQL Server 2005, in SQL Server 2008 or in SQL Server 2008 R2
