What Twitter Account Should SQLSaturday Use?

,

Last week PASS sent out an email saying that on June 15 all the tweets from @sqlsat would be changed to come from @sqlpass (and no more “attending” tweets”). The next day the deadline was moved to June 22 in response to feedback. You can read the official post here.

Handled well? Probably not.

Is it a big deal? Probably not.

If I was asked (and I wasn’t), I’d suggest that increasing the volume of tweets that aren’t highly relevant could dilute the value of reading @sqlpass. Stopping the “attending” tweets reduces that quite a bit I guess – but did we value those, we being the organizers and attendees? I don’t know.

I’m not mad at PASS – I don’t really care that much which account gets used and if I really want “attending” tweets I can figure out how to get it done for our event in Orlando.

What bothers me is that the feedback related to changes like this is often frustrating/hurtful for whoever is managing the change and it can cause a negative feeling from the members (customers) that can accrue over time. I feel like there has been too much of that. What could we do different?
