You up to speed yet, by your tweets sounds like a long set of flights.

Awake. Mostly. The pot of coffee that came with breakfast helped.

8 hours JHB-Dubai
14 hours Dubai - New York
2 hours New York to Charlotte

The 14 hour wasn't too bad, Emirates' biiiiiiig plane (A380). Had wifi (which I didn't use), USB and laptop power available in economy, friendly staff. Could have been way worse (could have been Delta)

Wow that's a day in a plane!
Glad you made it here OK.

Rodders...

Don't forget to add a couple hours between stops for layovers!

Poor Gail was probably in airports and on planes for close to 30 hours...

3 and a half hours layover each, though with the time needed to unload the big planes, closer to 3 hours actually in the airport. A little less than I prefer to be honest, lunch in New York had to be cut short. Add in another 3 hours in Joburg airport and about an hour in Charlotte.

Oh no, I had realised it didn't include stop overs. Is that 11 hours in total for just the waiting! :O

Anyway saw Gail very briefly last night - she was on the hunt for food!

Now just got to find Jack C today! Piece of cake in the middle of the other 5000 people who are supposed to be here.

The first timers panel seemed to go OK. About 1000 turned up for that. I made a few comments about the whole conference experience. A few people stopped and talked in bars or on the way back to the hotel so that was nice.

By the way Gail , I have two cameras both capable of video, so I think I'll coordinate with Paul White and we get some multi-angle shots lined up for WIT!

Rodders...

It sounds like everyone is having entirely too much fun, except for the travel to get there, of course. I wish I would have taken the time to come.

Offered up something a bit different. We used to have a few different ways to handle tracking changes. Part depended on whether it was dimensional or summable, and part depended on how the user wanted to see it.
So it looks like they have a few ideas to explore now.

Was just reading Grants' recap of the PASS Day 1 Keynote, and comparing it mentally to the recap Ozar had put up...

Might be fun to lock the two of them in a room together and let them "discuss" Azure, SQL 2014, etc...

Downloading SQL 2014 CTP2 right now. Somehow didn't find a VM with Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014 pre-installed, like with CTP1.
Unless I missed something?

Can I install CTP2 over CTP1?

edit: you can download a VHD with Windows Server 2012R2 and then install the SQL Server 2014 ctp2. The family will be pleased as I will kill the bandwidth for the next hour or so

Apparently not...

Upgrading from Microsoft SQL Server 2014 CTP 1 to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 CTP 2 is NOT supported.
