I would like to know how to save an already deployed cube so that I can modify the cube and redeploy it to the server.

Ideally, you would use the project/solution that was originally used to develop the cube.
Assuming that this is not an option, you can do what you want using BI Development Studio. Using this, open a new project. From the list of "Project Types", select "Business Intelligence Projects". You should see a template called "Import Analysis Services 9.0 Database".
You should get a Wizard type dialog that leads you through the steps needed to import the cube. Once this is done, you can modify it as you please.
Remember that any changes you make will affect the cube you imported from unless you change the target server in the project properties.
