Multi Select to Single Select parameter

  • Hello Experts,

I need your urgent help can you please help me?

I have one report being accessed by 900 users (100 key users and 700 users are subordinates of key user's)

This report has one multi select shop parameter that is causing so much performance issue for Key users when their subordinates also select all the shops and run the report.

So is there any way by which we can restrict the all the subordinates to only select single shop from multi select shop parameter?

    Regards,

    Amit

  • make a copy of the report.

in the new copy (for the restricted folks), change the parameter to single value. (turn off Allow Multiple Values).

I'm pretty sure you can leave everything else the same... then publish that and give the restricted folks rights to use it and not the original report.

  • Hi,

Thank you so much for your quick response.

Will it be possible to make it in same report instead of creating copy of report because to eliminate risk of maintain two different reports.

Any conditional ways to make multi select parameter to single select please?

    Regards,

    Amit

You can make a linked report.

First, if there is not an existing folder, create one where the linked report will go.

Then on the original report, on the right side, click the arrow and click Create Linked Report. Then click on the Change Location button and choose the folder.

There is not a conditional way to make multi-select parameter into a single.

You can limit the values for the parameter if you specify values. They can be based on some SSRS built-in fields like UserID or Report Folder. they can be used in expressions.
