Any reason NOT to compress log backups?

  • Compressing a log backup does nothing really more than make the final file size smaller than its uncompressed form. It will take slightly longer to do depending on how big the log is and there will be some overhead as a result of the compression operation but apart from that, I can think of no real reason why the log backup should not be compressed.
