Given a SQL 2008 R2 DB with TDE enabled, is there a way to enable ENCRYPTION for the SNAPSHOT as well? (Is this implied at the file level?) Are the contents of my .SS file encrypted if the source DB was encrypted?

The snapshot will be encrypted if the source DB is encrypted.

That was my assumption, but the properties of the snapshot show FALSE for encryption so I was not convinced.

The snapshot file (.ss) just contains before images of changed database pages. Since the page is encrypted in the source database, it is encrypted in the snapshot. The unchanged pages come from the source database, so those are encrypted also.
