SSC veteran,
thanks a bunch for your detailed advise. I did have 2008r2 installed on my previous machine from 2010 to Sept 2012 (using vmware), but when I did not see anything as a junior DBA or Trainee DBA, I had to look at other options
I could do the following
Mirroring (Principal, Mirror and Witness) Log Shipping Backup and Recovery User roles and rights Performance Tuning

Are you no longer pursuing a career as a Database Professional? Is the list things you had learnt while you were trying to?

I am still chasing DBA roles, however I still working as a Test Manager

Ah, I'm with you.
I don't see TSQL on that list? I doubt you'll get very far without a good understanding/knowledge of it 
Anyway, best of luck to you and I hope it all works out.
Feel free to post back to the Forums if you need any further advice, there are plenty of experienced folks here who can give it.

| of course i use T-SQL to write stored procedures and functions. I am not however as robust in T-SQL as a SQL Server Developer
