Now I must confess that I got it right completely by luck but with a trail of thought that TRUNCATE TABLE is minimally logged and doesn't affect individual rows.

Is that what the article from Kimberly Tripp explained?

"Every time the table changes its row count from 0 to a number greater than zero, all of a table’s statistics are outdated."

Does this mean if more rows were inserted after TRUNCATE, then histogram would have been different ?
