Databases in vendor applications and indexes

    What's best practice with regard to indexes in vendor applications? I assume it's not done to add your own indexes? (Leaving aside for now the issue of whether it would invalidate a support contract.)

    This is just a general question really- something I've been idly wondering about.

    Get the vendor's permission before you make any chances and ensure that you're not breaking support agreements.
