Also I would check your local computer keyboard and language vs the servers keyboard and language.

E.g English British and English American the keys are in different locations eg Shift+2 in the UK is " in the US its @ (I think)

So if your UK and server is US and you have " is it actually an @ etc etc

Might be something that simple, has caught me out a few times.
