SQL Server Cannot connect anymore

  • Hi,

    My production server is suddently stopped and I am getting the following error.

    A connection could not be established to LOCAL

    Reason : Cannot Open user default database. Login failed.

    Pelase verify the sql server is running.........

    I checked the event viewer on my win server but I couldn't find anything strange. I got the follwing message in event viewer. Do you think becasue of this? Please explain........

    Description:

    Sounds like the default database for the SQL login was deleted/corrupted/recovering. If SQL is not running I would think something happened to the master db which is probably the deafult database for the SQL login.

  • Yes indeed.

    I took old database offline and users 'sa' and 'builtin\Administrator' default database is assign to one of the offline database. That's why I can't get back in anymore.

    But problem is now fix. I have applied PC\Administrator account to 'Master' in Osql. Now it works. Also bring that db online again. I hope should be all ok.

    ** strange things is - I don't understand, why SQL is not coming up the message when I took the db offline.
