SSRS 2008: How to build a subtotal of two columns depending on their contexts

  • Hey guys,

I've got following issue. I have a matrix like this

    Months

Sales January February March April May ... January + February February + April

    10 20 15 5 30 ? ?

I have a row group "Sales" and a column group "Months". Now i need to build different subtotals oh the column group, for example January+February. Which would be 30 in this case.

Any ideas how ideas how i can build these totals???

    Thank you

    Alina

  • Hi,

SSRS does provide such dynamic columns associating but if time is constraint I would suggest using a Pivot Transformation in your underlying SQL query and populate it on SSRS reports, table preferably:-)

  • Hi,

I don't really understand your answer. Could you make an example.

And why would you use a table instead of matrix?

    Thank you!

  • Thank you Raunak! That's a really great idea to pivot the data with sql.

For two days i've been looking for a solution, thinking reporting services must have such a feature. But it works just perfectly with sql and table. So thank's a lot!
