Hi,
In witch situations having a large trx-log size can affect performance ? Replication ???
Note : I am NOT talking about the performance degradation when the trx-log is gowing.

Large transaction logs can affect performance when there are too many VLF's (see article by Kimberly Tripp in my sig).
You could also run into problems with replication and log-shipping.

performance of 'backup log' can be affected when there are too many VLF's
Does performance of an 'application' can also be affected when there are too many VLF's ?
NOTE : suppose that all the recomandations of Kimberly T. are fallowed

Yes. Applications can also suffer from too many VLF's.
