  • In the Reporting Service Configuration Manager on the Report Manager URL tab if I click the hyperlink, a login box pops up but no matter what I key in as a user nothing works. The error is:

  • Hello,

Does the workaround mentioned in the following thread resolve your issue:-

  • I changed it a while ago. here is the Auth section

    true

    is this correct?

  • Ok XML does not show in the above post. How do I make it show?

  • Hello again,

XML Should be visible if you surround it with the "Code" tags. Which are selectable from the IFCode option. For example:-

    VisibleXML

Just to check, did you restart the Services after making the change?

  • Just stopped and started all 4 SQL services that were running.

What user name should I be keying in when the login box pops up after I click the Reporting Services URL? I'm using my local user account. There seems to be something completely wrong with the setup of this, since no matter what I try, nothing works.

  • Can you view the properties of the folder “'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express\MSRS10.P4SCREAMER\Reporting Services\ReportManager\” via Windows Explorer?

If so, check which users and groups have access to the folder, and ensure that your login has at least read and execute permissions.

  • my login has permission and I also added

SQLServerReportServerUser$... and ASP.NET user at one point reading something somewhere else.

  • here are the Authentication tags in rsreportserver.config file. There are of them

    true

  • I think the REAL problem with this is security is so tight today and this computer has or had so much different software such as VB6, VB.NET 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008; SQL Server 2000, 2005 Express, Mobil edition, SQL 2008 Express, AutoCAD, MS Office Developer and so much more, that it can't figure out what to do. So I would suspect the only way to fix it would be to Reformat the HD and start all over. Which I’m not going to do at this point.

So I’m ending this post. Thanks

  • I know you said you closed this task, but I am running into the same issue and for the life of me can't figure out how to access Report Manager.

This is on a Windows XP Pro (MCE) laptop.

    Thanks for any help!
