Answered Posts

  • Hi,

How about adding "Mark As Answer" feature?

Where The thread starter or a Moderator can mark a post as answer to the more correct or more helpful reply.

It will help in great deal

    - Someone who is searching for similar problem

    - Rating for Answerer's

Also I don't like the current points system at all. The points merely suggest quantity participation of a member and NOT quality.

Almost all other Online forums already have such feature.

Please keep the discussion heathly, it's a kind request.

  • Again starting from beginning ...no it is not allowed (double posts)!

  • Yup, ban me 🙂

Never it happened here ... all users are free but must follow some rules ..simple don't do double post! 😛

  • I broke the rule 🙂 😎

The other thread giving me headache, so moderators please excuse me.

  • Reposting the same suggestions with the same comments is pointless. Your suggestions have been noted and several people have commented on your original post.

Do you want me to repost all of my arguments here as well?

Or should I just direct everyone to read the discussion here which is, unfortunately, a little one-sided as some of the posts have been deleted (fortunately many people quoted them).

  • Its your choice, you are the Boss.

But honestly, some of the post there gave me headache.

So can we start a fresh? With simple discussion on pros and cons of "Answered" feature?

Is there anything you do, when someone intentionaly offend someone?

    John Smith

  • When someone is intentionally offensive, I point it out to Steve, who is the editor/moderator/etc., for the site, and he takes care of it.

I've already posted my arguments against flagging individual posts over there so would suggest people read them there.

    Many things.

However, I didn't see any evidence of your being intentionally offended.

I did see at least one post, quoted here, where you indicated that you felt some people were unhelpful and were simply posting for the sake of it. As a result, several people gave you reasons why you might see such posts.

Hence, I think that if anyone was intentionally offending anyone else, then, unfortunately, it was you offending some of the most dedicated people on this site.

  • I'm going to be intentionally offensive here.

I just read the other thread, and I'm going to say that Mangal is one of the vicious people who feel the need to use broad, offensive generalities to try to pull people down to his own level. That's my take on the situation, so I'm going to to what I always do with such people. I'm going to ignore him completely from this point on. I have very little tollerance for that kind of spite.

  • Mangal, please read this post.

I'd be curious to hear your response.

  • Ok,

Can we talk about the Topic now?

NOt the correct platform to talk about the personal issues.

    Mangal,

Never ever reply saying 'Ok' in online forums not a good etiquette, it shows that you are annoyed( I hope you are not)

    Ok,

Can we talk about the Topic now?

I already did. Just not in this thread.

    To summarize:

Marking posts as 'best answer' = Bad

Marking thread as having a usable answer = Possibly good

I completely agree, as i stated in this original post we only give optimal answers dfferent ways to implement a technology and its OP's decision to pick the right according to his again business requirements.
