Mirroring monitor job

    Hey all,

    The monitoring job (Database Mirroring Monitor Job) that is created when mirroring is in place seems to do a pretty decent job ... but is it normal that it doesn't fail when the witness and mirror are down? This happened to me today and my principal databases went into recovery (resolved by ALTER Database SET PARTNER OFF) but the monitoring job never detected failure and I'm curious to as why. Wondering If I need to enhance this job by checking the database status ...

    I was pretty sure this job just updated the dbm_monitor_data table in MSDB. This job isn't configured to report if there are issues, so you'd have to employ another measure for the failure you described.
