Setting: Windows XP with SP3, x86 box

Trying to install sql 2005 client tools on this box.

Client passes all sql requirments (except for the one about IIS).

The setup fails:

Error 1: MXXML6 " Setup Failed. Refer to the setup log for

Here's an extract from the Summary.txt file.

(\\ \c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG)

I'm baffled. Any ideas much appreciated.

Just enable IIS Service(if installed) and it will be good to go.
Else goto Control Panel-> Add Remove Programs-> Add Remove Windows component Tab on Left Side check Internet Information Services and Next Next to complete.. Run setup agan.

I installed IIS and re-tried the sql 2005 client install. Unfortunately, the install failed again at the msxml6 step.

Hi,

I hope only MSXML6 component is alone failed, can you post that log to analyse?? Else you can download MSXML6 setup and try installing the same. Refer the link below

Kindly note that IIS is required only if you are planning to install reporting services else you can neglect this!
