Hi
The backups on sql 2000 using the maintenance plan dont seem to be working. I no other works the backup is not working.
The following error is genearted in the event viewer event is 17055
With the following description below
3041 :
BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE [NXGLive] TO DISK = N'R:\Backups\NXGLive\NXGLive_db_200709112000.BAK' WITH INIT , NOUNLOAD , NOSKIP , STATS = 10, NOFORMAT
Any help on this would be great.

Addtionally i am also getting the event id 17055 but with the following description below
18210 :
BackupMedium::ReportIoError: write failure on backup device 'R:\Backups\NXGLive\NXGLive_db_200709112000.BAK'. Operating system error 112(error not found).
This is pretty mind boggling because the sql agent responsible for scheduling the job is working, there is enough disk space just about, i am only backing up i db which i have said to remove older than 1 day so in other words it should overwrite but it clearly isn't as the following error is genearted?
Have i missed anything.

Viv,
Operating system error 112 is the 'no space on disk' as I recall. So check the permissions on that file if there's enough space. Log in to the server with the account running the SQL Agent and try to rename the file. It should fail.
