After installing Enterprise Manager on a new HP laptop running XP Pro, I get the following error message when to trying to "Return all rows" from a table. "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."
Everything in read on the internet says to install or reinstall Jet 4.0 sp8, but this has not solved the problem. Any ideas?
Thanks

IThis message can also come from an MDAC component that did not properly register. You can use Microsoft's component checker to verify MDAC installations and that's available here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/downloads/default.aspx
If you've loaded XP SP2, you may also have to tweak some of your settings to get SQL Server to work. There's an FAQ page on XP SP2 here:

Thanks, I've already been down the MDAC path and everything checked out, but I will have a look at the FAQ link. Thanks again for the help.

I had this same problem when selecting 'Return all rows' in Enterprise Manager SQL Server 2000.
I fixed it by unregistering and registering the 'msdasql.dll' file.

Just to say that I seem to be working as a result of re-registering 'msdasql.dll' with the error 'Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed' I got this after applying
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315868
Which seemed to cause this error, in the Enterprise Manager, when I tried to view a table in any database.
