Is There anyBenefit to moving the ErrorLog off of C:\ drive?

  • Our ErrorLog file is in the default location on the C:\ drive. I know how to move it to a different drive...I am just wondering if there is any benefit, especially considering we are on a SAN and the "drives" are basically just logical containers at this point.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Let's say your hardware crashes badly and you have to rebuild. Then you reattach the SAN drives and get everything running again. However, all your error logs were on the server hard drive (C:) and are lost. There goes a way to maybe see what caused the crash or if anything else "bad" happened.
