SSIS in Azure

  • Hi,

I am new to Azure and looking for the best option possible to move data from different SQL server and Project Server database to our new Azure database. As of now in our reporting SQL database we are using SSIS 2012 to feed data in . Is it possible to run SSIS in Azure or there are other best ways possible ?

    Thanks,

    Plabita Baruah

  • There's no real SSIS as a service in Azure.

You can host a machine in Azure though and install SSIS on it, just like on any regular virtual machine.

  • How about data factory?

    How about data factory?

I noticed you can now access on-premise data as well using the data management gateway, so maybe I was a bit too quick to say there's no real SSIS as a service.

Still think though that data factory is more meant for big data/cloud solutions and that SSIS is still another beast (different scale).
