Stopping SQL Server service

  The other day I needed to stop SQL Server on one of my servers for patching. I went into Services, stopped the service... and a moment or two later it started itself up again. The service is set to Automatic but that should only matter when the server comes up...

  Has anyone seen this before or know a reason for it?

  Check the Recovery tab in services, might be a restart. Or there's some other monitoring process that looks to restart the service.
