Failure sending mail

  • Hello.

    I getting this error on subscriptions in 2 report servers (2008 R2 X64 SP3).

Failure sending mail: Exception 0xc0000005 was generated at address 0x000007FEE4CB5B3B Mail will not be resent.

Both servers have several reports and this error occurs with random subscriptions.

I take a look on event viewer from both server and nothing was logged, also I asked the Network Admin for issues on Exchange Server and nothing unusual was detected.

Any ideas what can cause this ?

  • Not something I've seen before, but found a topic via Google that had a couple of ideas:

One person suggests that it could be because you have have a second instance of SSRS installed. If so, you must ensure that both instances have email configured or it will fail.

Another, at the end, suggests it was due to an update on Exchange. The update meant that until the SQL server was restarted the failures occurred. Not sure if either of these help. I know that restart the SQL Server can be a scary endeavour, but if you have done an update for Exchange, it might be worth looking into.

  • Hi Larnu

These SSRS servers are independent, each one has your own ReportServer database in 2 different SQL instances.

    Exchange was not update recently.
