The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

  • Hi...

I have this lousy problem I can't get fixed. It started a few days ago and I didn't get it fixed yet.

I'm running a Windows 2003 Standard Edition server with SQL Reporting Services Enterprise Edition SP2.

The server is running fine, but I have to move the it to another machine.

So I installed RS with SP2 and did a rskeymgmt with the key I exported from original server and performed an rsactivate to point to the correct database.

But for some reason http://server/Reports keeps on giving me HTTP status 404. http://server/Reportserver works fine !

I have tried reinstalling IIS6, ASP.NET, SQL Reporting. But no luck.

This is what my log file says :

  • Is there are difference in the server platform you are moving to?  I have a similar problem, still not solved yet.  In my case, I believe the issue is regarding SharePoint server installed in the same server as reporting services.  You might survey your destination OS environment as a means to deduce the issue.

I'll repost if/when I solve my own problem.

    Cheers,

    Neal

  • Hi,

In the readme file I saw the below note. I'm not sure but may be helpfull.

If you decide to take the described action, please take your backups. I did not do the below steps.

    3.7 Rebuilding an SP2 Installation

If you need to rebuild a Reporting Services installation that has been upgraded to SP2, do the following:

    • Install SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services components.
    • Install SP2.
    • Drop and delete the report server database.
    • Restore the SP2 version of the report server database.
    • Run rsconfig.exe on the report server to configure a connection to the report server SP2 database.
    • If the computer name or service account has changed, run rskeymgmt.exe to reapply the symmetric key.

  • had the same problem but have fixed it now.

    1. check you default web server IP is 'all unassigned'

    2. then ping the machine and see what default ip it has assigned.

    3. make sure no other web sites are using the IP of the default web server.

I had the default web server set to all unassigned, but another website on the same server was using the default IP. Yes that's right - they were both 'running' at the same time with the same IP. Stopping the other web site and restarting the default site fixed the problem.

  • Shmulik,

That was my issue, plus I found the lmhost setting in the TCP was not set on.

    Thanks

  • This was my issue too.  Thank you very much!

  • Could u Please Tell me with Details ... I am unable to get it .. :hehe:

  • Try using the full path the reportserver to connect. e.g http://localhost/ReportServer
