How do I move the report header and page header information around?

  • I'm working on a SSRS report I imported from an Access report. The importation process did something I don't quite understand. (I've never done an Access report before, so my terminology is likely to be wrong. Please be tolerate of my mistakes.)

The Access report had the column headers immediately above the table it displayed of the detail data. Then above that is stuff that the author of the Access report put into the page header (?). (I don't know if that's right or not. This page header stuff only shows up on the first page. All other pages only have the column headers and the table.)

The SSRS report reverses which order the page header and column header information show up in. The column headers are at the very top, but do show up on every page. The section that SSRS calls a ReportHeader, now underneath the column headers, shows up only once, on the first page.

The users aren't used to seeing it that way. So how do I get the column headers to be immediately above the detail section (where it renders a table of data), showing up on every page, and the report header stuff at the very top where it will only show up on the first page?

  • Hi Rod,

Click anywhere on the Tablix you want the headers to be repeated on. This will show the row and columns grid on the left and top edges of the Tablix. Right click in the little square in the very top left of the Tablix outline grid. This should give you a menu. Select the bottom option, "Tablix Proprties...". Once this box pops up, you should see at the bottom of the pop-up a section titled, "Column Headers". Click in the box immediately under this to "Repeat header columns on each page". Then click the ok button. This should now display the text above the columns on every page.
