database mail sysmail_start_sp

  • Hi folks,

I am looking for a solution to the problem that only sysadmin can execute this stored procedure.

I need this service running as close to 24/7 as possible and on random occasion the service will stop and therefore need to be restarted.

sysadmin are not available 24/7 but there will always be someone there! is it possible through any other means?

alternatively Do you have ideas if a trigger might work if it is not possible to have another non sysadmin user run this command?

Any help with this would be great, thank you

  • Dont expect that was a exceptionally difficult problem and assume that as I am new to the DBA work, I need to work on the phrasing of my questions 🙂

Anyway, what I have done, is add a number of logins to the MSDB owner role, including one of our executive directors, gave them all a script to execute if there is a problem with DBMail and everyone is happy
