Issues Setting up Mirroring SQL 2008 R2 from Windows 2008 server to Windows 2012 Server

  • I am having issues setting up mirroring between an old server and a new server that we are migrating to. Was wondering if you had any ideas of what we might be able to do to fix this issue.

    - I am able to successfully setup mirroring between the new servers (Windows 2012 / SQL 2008 R2) without issues.

    - I am able to setup replication from an old server (Windows 2008 / SQL 2008 R2) to a new server (Windows 2012 / SQL 2008 R2).

    - But when I try to setup mirroring between an old server (Windows 2008 / SQL 2008 R2) and a new server (Windows 2012 / SQL 2008 R2), I get an - error that the destination server canโ€™t be reached on port 5022.

    - I can successfully telnet from the new server to the old server and I can successfully telnet back from the old server to the new server on port 5022.

  • do you have multiple instances on server002, that's what your diagram implies.

With multiple instances you'll need to pick a separate, unique port number
