Recommended number of full backups to run simultaneously

  • Hello --

We have twenty-three databases of sizes ranging from several hundred megabytes to several hundred gigabytes, based on their respective bak files, on our server. I am currently simultaneously running four full backups utilizing Ola Hallengren's scripts. The full backups each take a subgroup of the databases as part of their respective jobs. I monitored the cpu and memory usage of this schedule, and while the memory load was high, it was not so much the server was completely swamped. The server has sixty-four gigabytes of RAM, and the backups utilized forty-three gigabytes.

I may have to increase the number of full backups that run simultaneously to seven. My question is the following: Is there a limit to how many full backup jobs that can run simultaneously?

    Thanks.
