Login Problem

    In my production server we have configured two separate instance.One default instance another one named instance.Whenever i try to login through named instance its connecting very fast.But some times my default instance very slow.some times i a getting following error.Please replay me what is a cause of the problem?

    Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -2).

    There is nowhere near enough information here. How are you connecting? Do you have any logon triggers? Are the credentials valid? Are there available connections in the pool? The list of possibilities could go on and on.
