I have a very confusing situation when the same client using odbc and connecting to the same sql server (sql 2008) produces different performance results. When I run the client from server with windows 7 it performs 10-15 times faster than I run the same client from server with windows 2008. When I do a ping from both servers to sql server it should be the opposite as server with windows 7 has more hubs and ping take more time. My thinking is it could be related to OS or at least some security upgrade related to windows 2008, but this is just my guess. Any help how to troubleshoot is highly appreciated.
