Setting up Mirroring between different networks

  • Hi,

I have two servers ServerA and ServerB with SQL server 2008 R2 installed in two different networks. ServerA is on domain and has Windows 2003 (32bit) and ServerB is on workgroup and has Windows 2008R2 (64bit). I want to setup Mirroring between these two servers using port 5024. The Principal server (ServerA) instance is a default instance however, the Mirror server (ServerB) instance is a named instance. I have created the same login with same password on both the servers and on both the servers port 5024 is opened.

I have successfully created end-point on both the servers, but while setting up Mirroring, it is throwing an Error 1418- The server network address "TCP://<serverB>:5024" can not be reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and that the ports for the local and remote endpoints are operational.

Please help me resolve this issue.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Kumar Anand

  • Yes, it is possible with the help of pass-through authentication. Refer the following article which might help you.
