How to split SSRS generated PDF into separate reports based on changing textbook value

  • I have been looking for solution that will allow me to split an SSRS-generated report into individual PDF files that are named with the same textbox value that changes in the SSRS report for each page. I am open to paying for a utility that will do this. I've found examples that can be used with Access but I haven't found an example for SSRS. The key is that each split file should be named with the contents of a textbox that changes for each page.

The report is Master-Detail with the department name in a textbox in the master. A sub report contains the detail and never extends to a second page.

I'll keep looking and post back if I find an answer. I have to solve this by late Monday so any ideas anyone has will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • I found a solution. A-PDF Content Splitter worked. I'd tried other splitters (including the one bundled into Adobe Acrobat XI Pro) but none worked the way I needed. I downloaded a free trial of the A-PDF content splitter I just mentioned and it was easy. I chose the textbox that contained the text that would change anytime I wanted a split and voila, it did it. The crucial part is to name the output files with that text string, which it does. Price to buy : $79. I googled for a coupon and got it for $51.
