Problem with a copy of db file on the desktop

  • Time ago I decided to update Access database. Everything looked without problem at first sight, but problems were not long in coming…I found out that a copy of my .mdb file corrupt and I am unable to use it. The problem is occurring only to the copy on the desktop. .mdb file is fine, but every copy on the desktop become damaged. I don’t know what the reason of this odd behavior. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • by "damaged" or "corrupt", maybe it's permissions.

files under /user , like [my documents] and your desktop, are not typically accessible to OTHER users, unless they are admins/domain admins.

so if you copy a file there, it works fine for you, but cannot be accessed by normal users; i would not be surprised if the error is "cannot access or file is corrupt", and you are ignoring the cannot access portion of the error message.

  • I can advise only some evident tips such as create a new database and copy all the corrupt data into it. Or check it on other machine. Also compact, jet utility and so on and so forth. But i suppose you have tried all these tips. You have described not so much...so it is a "little bit" difficult to understand what is really going on. Try to search some tips on a forum threads with the similar issues, like this: http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/microsoft/microsoft-aa/access/1435-access-database-2003-became-corrupt-after-power-outage-what-gives

perhaps there you will find smth
