How to Change Service Account back to "NT Service\ReportServer"

  • I was having problems with SSRS and though it may be a network permissions issue. I used the services control panel to change it to my account. That did not fix the issue and now the SSRS service doesn't work at all because it gets the error message "The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key that is used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content. (rsReportServerDisabled) Get Online Help For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors". I did not set this server up and do not have a key. According to the SSRS documentation (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842421), I should set it back to the old account. This was "NT Service\ReportServer". I can't set this through the services control panel because it's not a real account. I try using the SSRS Configuration manager and it asks for the key file, which I don't have.

How can I reset the service to use the "NT Service\ReportServer" account?

    Thanks.
