SQL 2005 sp4 upgrade on windows 2003 three node cluster

    Hello,

    We were in the process of patching two instances on a three node cluster. we ran the patch from the active node of both the instances and during the installation there was a timeout error on one of the nodes. At the end of the installation two of the nodes were successfully patched, but the third one was not.

    So we moved the resources to the third node and paused the other two nodes and ran the installer. It finishes within 10 seconds with a success message but the version is still not getting upgraded to 9.0.5000 on the third node.

    any pointers please.

    Have a look at that, you can use the /PASSIVE switch on SP2 CU6 or higher.
