I am connected to management studio as myself, with sa privaleges, and when i go to assign permissions to securables for a database role it comes back and shows a user name in the GRANTOR column that is not what I logged into SSMS with. I tried executing T -SQL and using the option 'as' to specify a user name and it STILL shows a user name that I didn't specify. I've read that in the end the 'grantor' isn't what is important and that to make sure the security is set correctly but I am trying to understand why it is choosing a user that has access to the database in question but has nothing to do with the granting of permissions in this case.
any ideas?
